Getting Ready to Launch the New Spacerock
Published: August 14, 2011
So I've been working for a while on a facelift for this website. The 15th anniversary of this website is coming up on December 10th - I thought it was in 2012 but just checked. Wow.
I've been working in a lot of new technologies lately - particularly HTML5, CSS3, and taking the much needed leap to learn javaSccript. The new site will launch hopefully by September 1. You can take a look around by clicking here.

New Features:
There are just a couple of new features I've worked up for this 15th anniversary edition.
A revamped photo album - something far more elegant than my standard E-Z Photo layout. I'm using jQuery to do this and it is very elegant in comparison to the boring grid layout.
Search Engine - this search engine indexes the site nightly and you can look stuff up on spacerock.com and jump easily to what you are looking for.
The recipe section was hacked and someone thought it was really fun to wipe out a lot of my recipes. A lot of these were heirloom recipes and I am having to retrace my path to get them back. Whoever did this needs to be turned over someone's knee and paddled. So I'm still searching for my lost recipes - fortunately I had a habit of printing out hard copies. I also have a habit of recycling...(sigh). That taught me a lesson about leaving my tools unlocked, so to speak.
The links also got wiped out, same person. They use a 'tor' to emulate different ip addresses/regions of the world, so I can't exactly find them. Kharma's a b--ch though.
Anyway, I plan to have the new site online by Sept. 1st - hopefully before. I'd release sooner but I have to fix cross browser issues (thank you, IE). The new site will yell at IE6 users to upgrade...
